Check tire inflation pressure
NOTE! Tire pressure must always be measured from cold tires.
Temperature has a significant impact on tire pressurisation. The temperature in a warm garage can be up to 86 ºF higher than outside. If the tire pressure is measured inside, it will be too low for outside temperatures.
Example: The temperature in the garage is 68 ºF, while the outside temperature is 14 ºF à If the pressure is adjusted in the garage, the pressure added to the tires must be 4.35 psi higher than the recommended value to ensure a correct pressure level outside.
The impact of temperature on the pressure of passenger car tires is approx. 1.45 PSI / 14 ºF.
In addition to correct tire pressure, drivers should also ensure that uni-directional tires are correctly installed on the car. The arrow on the sidewall indicates the rolling direction.
To prolong the lifetime of the tires, front and rear tires can be changed from one axle to another every 3000–6000 miles.
As a result, the tires will wear evenly and show smaller differences in wear.
We recommend that you break in your M+S labelled winter tires by avoiding hard acceleration and braking during the first 300 miles. A gentle break-in improves the durability of studding: the studs will fit securely into place and stay on the tires.
